Aug 7, 2008 Operations Meeting
Larviciders report mostly clear spots, very little needed to be treated, probably because of last night's storm. Ron would like to be able to check a pond off Minnesota Creek - need permission to access it.Mike Smolen went to Grand Junction this morning and spoke with Zane McCallister. 10 larviciders. All crew participates in identifying mosquitoes. Breeding sites ranked according to potential for breeding mosquitoes and proximity to population. Data entered on handheld units and sent by remote to central database.
Off season project - re-evaluate thresholds. May be able to raise them without jeopardizing health. Thresholds can be adjusted down if there is disease in the area.
Kevin - worked out communication paths from hot line to larviciders, trappers, foggers and back to Kevin.
Hotchkiss residents (names withheld) - had been very irate, but are now grateful we responded, have a better understanding of our approach.
Viva and Mike would like a new microscope. Viva was given permission to order one.
Kris will go to bank for line of credit to finish out the year. Michael Smolen will talk to mines to request grants
