II. Public comments, questions - none of note
III. No announcements
IV. Minutes of May 18 approved as written
V. Officers Reports
A. President - Zach's owners happy to have us try to mitigate their site. Plan is to clear the brush in the wet areas and deepen the channel to help the water drain. Kris and Kevin will try to get donations of heavy equipment and operators. Old Grizzly fogger and one of the newer ones for sale. Kwiki Tire II is contributing two tires for one of the trucks. Thank you! No report on how the camping bikers fared yet. Traps only caught 3 - 12 mosquitoes per night several nights before the event - probably too cold for them. Kris found lots of mosquitoes inside the high school gym during the basketball tournament.
1. Field Report - see attached. Biz keeping a list of service calls and responses. Board recommended they get call backs as well to let them know how we responded. Discussion of ways to record and disseminate data. Adulticide training happening this week or next. Kris got a quote on aerial adulticiding if it is ever needed.
B. Treasurer's report - Insurance paid up. Payroll running about $8500 per month. Collection of property taxes down compared to last year. If necessary, we could make the payroll even without any further income, but other expenses would have to be deferred. Some of the tax income may come in in October - too late for this season's expenses. If needed, may be possible to take out a bridge loan to carry us from the middle to the end of the year, but it would need to be paid off by the end of the year.
VI. Old Business
Cherry Days booth. Need someone to coordinate the booth. Biz willing to work it on Friday. Tara will help and bring table, repellents. Viva and Scott will set up canopy. - Other volunteers may man the booth for periods of time.
Mitigation - Michael will make some calls but will be travelling next week. May get some interested parties together to brainstorm ideas. He will coordinate with Kevin to set up a time and place. Kris will check with NCRS to make sure any sites we're considering aren't protected wetlands. Tentative date set for the 30th.
VII. New Business
A. Special District reporting laws changes - Each district needs to provide public notice to every eligible elector between Nov. 16 and Jan 16 regarding general information about the district and the election procedure. Senate Bill 09-87. Tara will contact Special District Association lawyer, who may be willing to provide information regarding compliance. May be met by a link from DoLA website to a page on ours containing the information.
B. Election of officers -
Kris elected as President, Kevin as Treasurer, and Tara as Secretary.
VIII. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
Comments
As far as I know, we (The Hotchkiss Chamber of Commerce) received no complaints about mosquitoes from either of the big June bike tours (16th and 21st). The weather definitely helped. Thanks for staying on top of the situation.
